Overdraft Protection

Marion County Bank understands that an overdraft to your checking account can be caused by any number of reasons.  A mistake that results in an overdraft does not necessarily reflect your financial habits.  That’s why we offer three convenient options to help you avoid unwanted overdrafts:

Ready Reserve

Ready Reserve acts as a line of credit that is activated when a presented check, ACH or debit card transaction would overdraw your account.  Funds (up to a predetermined limit) are automatically transferred into your checking account in $100 increments to cover the shortfall.  Repayment is easy too!  Monthly payments of $25 or 2% of the credit line balance, whichever is greater, will be automatically deducted from your checking account.  You can also pay down the balance of your Ready Reserve at any time you have the funds to do so.  Interest is charged and collected only on your outstanding Ready Reserve line of credit balance.  

Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC)

A Home Equity Line of Credit works in a similar way as the Ready Reserve.  HELOCs are secured by the equity in your home, so the limits can be larger and the interest rate on the line of credit lower.  HELOCs also provide you with additional repayment options.  Click here for a HELOC application, complete it and return it to one of our Consumer Loan Officers for their prompt review.

Savings AutoTransfer

A Savings Auto Transfer is an automated transfer of funds from your savings or other transation account to cover a pending overdraft in your checking account.  With a small transfer fee of $3.00, you’ll save yourself the cost of an overdraft.  Visit with one of our Customer Service Representatives for details.

Safe Deposit Box

Valuable possessions and important documents are safe when you store them in a Marion County Bank safe deposit box.  We have boxes available in a variety of sizes and prices at our Pella and Knoxville offices.

Reorder Checks

Even in this digital age, paper checks are still needed.  Many of Marion County Bank's personal bank accounts offer free checks, some accounts give this benefit for life!  

To order or reorder checks:

• Phone: Call our Customer Service Department for assistance.
• In Person: Stop by Marion County Bank to order your checks in person.

Please note that the Deluxe website is not compatible with all internet browsers, specifically IE9.

Direct Deposit

This convenient service allows you to receive funds directly into your checking or savings account by way of electronic deposit. Direct deposit is commonly used for depositing payroll checks, social security checks or tax refunds into a designated account.

Wire Transfers

Visa® Gift Cards

Identity Protection Tips

• Carry only necessary information with you.  Leave your Social Security card and unused credit cards in a safe and secure location.
• Do not provide your Social Security number unless absolutely necessary.
• Make photocopies of vital information you carry regularly and store them in a secure place, such as a safe deposit box.  Then, if your purse or wallet is lost or stolen, you have contact information and account numbers readily available.
• If you are uncomfortable with a phone call that was not initiated by you, hang up or ask for the purpose of the call.  Then contact the company using legitimate sources such as contact phone numbers found on the company's website, your bank statements, and those listed on your ATM, debit or credit card.
• Never provide payment information on a call that you did not initiate.
• Replace paper invoices, statements and checks with electronic versions, if offered by your employer, bank, utility provider or merchant.
• Shred documents containing personal or financial information before discarding.  Many fraud and identity theft incidents happen as a result of mail and garbage theft.
• Review your credit report at least once a year to look for suspicious or unknown transactions.  You can get a free credit report once a year from each of the three major credit bureaus at www.annualcreditreport.com.
• Subscribe to a daily credit monitoring service, such as Marion County Bank's provider, Provent Identity Theft Protection.

How do I sign up for Mobile Deposit?

How do I make my first Mobile Deposit?

Making your first mobile check deposit is fast and easy:  Log in to the Marion County Bank mobile app using your username and password.  Choose “Deposit Checks” from the menu.  Complete the step by step instructions of entering the check amount and taking a picture of the front and back of your check and submitting for deposit.  Be sure to endorse your check “For Mobile Deposit” along with your signature. 

That’s it!  You’ve sent your deposit through a secure connection to Marion County Bank.  You can review your Mobile Deposit and see the images you’ve submitted under the “History” tab.

How much does it cost to use Mobile Deposit?

There is no charge for you to utilize mobile deposit through the Marion County Bank app..

Bill Pay

Greater simplicity, easier navigation, more control and FREE to use, enjoy these great features of Bill Pay:

• • Schedule payment by due dates.  Bill Pay allows you to enter the date you would like the biller to receive your payment and takes care of getting it there on time.
  • Keep your money with you.  Your money will remain in your bank account until the day your electronic payment is due, which is the date you choose.  If the bill pay is sent via check, your money will remain in your account until it is cashed.
  • Pay from multiple accounts.  You get to choose which checking account to pay your bills from, making managing multiple accounts even easier.
  • Pay multiple bills at once.  You can pay multiple bills from the same account quickly using these step-by-step instructions.
  • Make recurring payments.  Eliminate the hassle of paying your monthly bills by setting up recurring payments.  This is a great option for payments that don't change from month to month, such as your car payment or mortgage.
  • See it all at a glance.  The Move Money section lets you make payments and view pending payments, recent payments and bill reminders all on the same screen.
  • Rush delivery available.  Please note that additional fees apply with your consent.

  To sign up for our free Bill Pay service:
  Current digital banking users can sign up for Bill Pay through their digital banking account.  Simply click “Move Money” from the menu bar, select “Enroll Now” and follow the steps.

  To use Bill Pay:

  • Log in to your Marion County Bank digital banking account.
  • Click Move Money from the menu bar.
  • Select New Transaction, choose account to pay from, select payee, insert dollar amount, select payment date, submit...and you're done!

Rush Delivery is available within Bill Pay

Did you forget to pay a bill?  Marion County Bank’s Bill Pay service allows Rush Delivery.  When in Bill Pay, the options for rush delivery will appear under the calendar when choosing a delivery date.

Several options may be available for rush delivery:

• Electronic Rush Payment (second business day) - $4.95
• 2-Day Draft Check Rush (second business day) - $14.95
• Next Day Draft Check Rush (next business day) - $19.95

*Please note not all rush delivery options may be available for all vendors.

eStatements

When you sign up for Marion County Bank eStatements you will receive your statement and images in Internet Banking.  This service gives you quicker access to your statements, archived statements for up to two years and it's free to all customers!  Fill out and submit the form below to get started!

eStatements and images are made available through Internet Banking on the first business day of the month.  To view your eStatements, sign in to Internet Banking and select the Documents tab from the menu options. Within the Document Search, you can select the Account and Date Range you'd like, then hit Apply.

Falcon Fraud Manager

Protecting you from unauthorized use of your debit card is one of our top priorities at Marion County Bank.  To mitigate fraud, we have partnered with Shazam, our electronic funds transfer network, to implement a monitoring system called Falcon.  Falcon will help safeguard your debit card against fraudulent activity.  If suspicious activity is detected on your debit card, you will be contacted by a Shazam fraud specialist calling on our behalf to verify the transaction in question.  If you initiated the transaction, there will be no action taken.  If you did not initiate the transaction, steps will be taken before more fraudulent transactions can occur.

To ensure that you can be reached promptly if fraudulent activity is suspected, we need to have your current phone numbers and email address.  We encourage you to provide both a primary and secondary phone number to help us avoid any delays in response to fraud alerts.  These may be your home, work or cell phone numbers.  It is also very important to keep this information current.  If your contact information changes, please inform us immediately.

The phone call will come from a live person, never a recording.  The caller will never ask for personal information such as your social security number, debit card number, PIN, etc.  Always use caution when providing your personal and debit card information and contact us immediately if you suspect your debit card has been stolen or compromised.

Many of the fraudulent transactions are done over the internet or internationally.  If you will be traveling in the United States or abroad, please contact Marion County Bank and let us know the dates and locations.  This will help in recognizing which transactions may be legitimate versus fraudulent.

• Suspicious or high-risk transactions

Early warning is key. When you are aware of suspicious activity, you can contact Marion County Bank or Shazam Falcon Fraud Manager sooner.

Brella allows for instant transaction control:

The Brella transaction control feature gives you more control over your accounts. Cardholders are able to pause their card, without affecting previous transactions, if your card is stolen or goes missing. With the quick tap of a button, this optional feature allows you to block or unblock your cards much like a temporary card block.

The transaction control feature also allows transaction level blocks! Users can set blocks for:

• Internet and phone transactions

Individual Retirement Account (IRA)

It's never too late to start preparing for retirement!  Let us help you save with a Traditional IRA or Roth IRA.  Depending on the type of IRA you choose, contributions may be tax deductible and will grow either tax-deferred or tax-free.  Both the Traditional and Roth IRAs consist of Marion County Bank CDs and are FDIC insured.

Traditional IRA

A Traditional IRA is designed for anyone under the age of 70 with earned income who wants to save for retirement.  The Traditional IRA allows you to defer taxes on the earnings on your contribution until they are withdrawn.  Certain contributions are tax deductible in the tax year for which you make them.

Roth IRA

A Roth IRA is for anyone who earns income and wants to save for retirement, especially those who may exceed the Traditional IRA income limits.  The Roth IRA allows only nondeductible contributions and features tax-free withdrawals.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

A Health Savings Account, commonly known as an HSA, is an account established for the purpose of paying or reimbursing qualified medical expenses.  An HSA provides a way to pay for qualified medical expenses on a tax-free basis as well as earn tax-free dollars on account contributions.  Experience these benefits with a Marion County Bank HSA:

• Every HSA is owned and controlled by the individual.
• All funds invested in an HSA remain the property of the account owner.
• Account balances roll over from year to year and accumulate tax-deferred.

First-time Homebuyer Savings Account (FTHSA)

A First-Time Homebuyer Savings Account (FTHSA) is a new type of savings account passed by the Iowa legislature to make purchasing a first home easier.  The law allows Iowans to make tax-deductible contributions into a First-Time Homebuyer Savings Account to be used for the purchase of a home.  Those who already own a home can open and contribute to an account for a designated first-time homebuyer and receive a tax deduction on Iowa state taxes too.

Account Benefits at Marion County Bank:

Interest Earning -

• The FTHSA at Marion County Bank is interest earning.  Contact Customer Service for current rate.

Iowa Tax Benefits -

• The account holder may claim a deduction for Iowa individual income tax made during the year by the account holder.  The amount deducted may not exceed $2,050 for the 2019 tax year.  Married taxpayers who file a joint return may deduct up to $4,100 for the 2019 tax year if the FTHSA is opened and maintained as a joint account.
• Interest earned on account balances is also exempt from Iowa income tax.
• The state of Iowa tax deduction for account contributions is available for up to ten years.
• The annual deduction limits are adjusted annually for inflation.

Certificates of Deposit (CDs)

Our CDs provide depositors a great way to manage savings and grow money without risk.  Our CD options offer competitive rates of return on terms that range from 3 months to 60 months.  Choose the term that works best for you.  Check out our online rate sheet for current rates and featured CD options.

Our featured CD options are designed to suit all stages of life:

	Bump CD – If rates go up, yours can too.  Our Bump CD allows you to take advantage of a rising rate environment.  Bump rate up once during the term, any time after the first six months.  Our Bump CD is a 24 month term and has the same rate as our traditional 24 month CD.
	Build CD – Our Build CD allows you to add money, such as your Christmas bonus or tax refund to your CD’s balance.  One deposit is allowed per calendar year and deposit minimum is $1,000.  Our Build CDs have an 18 and 24 month term and follow the same rates as the traditional 18 and 24 month CDs.
	Access CD – Have an unexpected need for cash?  The Access CD gives you the option to withdraw without penalty!  You may withdraw from your certificate once per calendar year and the amount withdrawn can be up to 10% of the current balance.  Our Access CDs are for 48 and 60 months and have the same rate as the traditional 48 and 60 month CDs.
