We celebrate Julia Caldwell as she begins her retirement from Marion County Bank after an incredible 37-year career.

Julia began her journey at the drive-up window and even ran the proof machine in her early days—a task she fondly remembers as a great stress reliever. Over the years, she’s worn many hats at the bank. When asked how many different roles she’s held, she joked that she’d need a spreadsheet to count them all!

Kevin Bolt, Bank President, who has worked alongside Julia for 30 of those years, praised her unwavering work ethic and the consistent quality of her contributions. Steve Kraayenbrink, CEO, shared how he and Julia have “grown up together” at the bank, appreciating her positive attitude and her ability to step into any role with grace. He especially highlighted her work as board secretary, marveling at her talent for deciphering his scribbles and even finishing his sentences.

A throwback photo shared during the celebration showed Julia and Steve as two of the only remaining employees from that time. Julia laughed as she recalled thinking retirement meant being old—yet here she is, smiling and grateful, as time has flown by.

Julia spoke warmly about the relationships she’s built with coworkers and customers alike. “Even when I worked at the drive-up, it felt like I knew everyone,” she said. “Customers would even bring us breakfast sandwiches!” Right out of high school she was taught that, “the customer comes first” and that is what she would tell someone just getting started in their career. “Always make the customer feel comfortable and safe. Make eye contact. Do your best to serve them well.”

During Julia's career she took a few years off to spend time with her family, but that helped her appreciate the bank culture even more. “People care about each other here,” she said. And now, as she steps away from the bank again, this time into retirement, she looks forward to extending that same care to her grandkids.

Thank you, Julia, for your years of service, your kindness, and your legacy at Marion County Bank. You’ve truly made a lasting impact. We celebrate with you today!
