Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a reminder to take a few simple steps to protect ourselves from all the ways scammers are trying to target you and your family.
Let’s take this month to refresh our understanding of the scams and fraud tactics that continue to target consumers every day. Throughout October, Marion County Bank will be participating in the Banks Never Ask That campaign alongside the American Bankers Association. We'll also be sharing a fun series of videos every remaining Thursday during the month of October on our social media pages with simple reminders about how you can help stop scams before they start. Because when it comes to fraud, a little awareness can go a long way.
Do you have what it takes to be a Scam Slayer?
Nearly 3 in 4 Americans have experienced a scam or fraud attempt*. Every day, thousands of people fall victim to fraudulent emails, texts and calls from scammers pretending to be their bank, a loved one, the government or law enforcement. In fact, Americans lost an estimated $68 billion to scams last year**.
At Marion County Bank we’re committed to helping you spot — and slay scams. We’ve joined the American Bankers Association and banks across the country in a nationwide effort to put criminals on notice and give you the power to protect your information and your money.
We’re here to help you become a Scam Slayer: An everyday hero who knows that the best defense against a scam is knowing what to look for and what your bank will never ask.
