Garret Jansen, a senior at Pella High School, was recently honored as the 2014 recipient of the Iowa Bankers Association’s Student Athlete Achievement Scholarship Award during the Iowa high school state football championships in Cedar Falls by Steve Kraayenbrink, President and CEO of Marion County Bank, Pella. This award recognizes a graduating senior student athlete for their academic performance, athletic participation, leadership skills and community involvement.
Steve Kraayenbrink presented Garret with a $1,000 scholarship to the college of his choice.
“On behalf of the Iowa Bankers Association, I’m pleased to present Garret with this much-deserved award. He is to be commended for his hard work and commitment to his school and his community,” said Kraayenbrink.
For more than two decades, the Iowa Bankers Association has sponsored the Student Athlete Achievement Scholarship Awards, which includes awards to student athletes in football, basketball and wrestling. The Iowa Bankers Association has awarded more than $250,000 in scholarships since the program began.
