We would like to welcome Zach Vande Weerd to the Marion County Bank Team! Zach is joining us this summer as a teller in our Pella locations while finishing up his CPA exams. He graduated from UNI with an Accounting degree and is currently studying at Mizzou for his Masters of Accounting and Data Analytics. This fall, he will begin his full-time job at KPMG as an Audit Associate. Zach and his fiance, Hannah, will be getting married in November and plan to live in Waukee. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, biking, and trying new restaurants. Be sure to welcome Zach next time you see him at our Pella locations!
We would like to welcome Vanessa Szlachetka to the Marion County Bank team. Vanessa joins us as a Real Estate Loan Officer in our Knoxville office with 18 years of previous banking and real estate experience. She lives in Knoxville with her husband, Jason, and their son, Jayden. When she’s not working, she enjoys time with family and friends, playing mini golf, watching movies or just being outdoors and traveling. Congratulations to Julie Varner on her 40 years of service with the bank! Julie started in the Knoxville office in the Spring of 1981 in the Bookkeeping department. Over the years she managed the Operations department as it grew when many services moved in-house along with customer service. She now manages card operations along with customer service needs. Thank you Julie for everything you have done during your remarkable career!

Stacie lives in Pella with her husband, Jason, and their youngest daughter, Olivia. Their two older children, Tyler and Nicole, are married and living in the Pella and Iowa City areas. If you've been to our Pella office recently, you may have noticed a new face at our loan administration desk. Holli Kelderman comes to us with previous administrative and financial experience. Holli lives in Pella with her husband Randy and their two boys. In her spare time she can be found attending her boys' sporting events, cheering for the Hawkeyes or curled up reading a good book. Today we are celebrating with Carolyn Harthoorn on her 20 years of service to Marion County Bank.
After staying home with her kids for 10 years, Carolyn received a call from Marion County Bank offering a parttime teller position back in 1998. She accepted and since that time, she has proven to be a jack-of-all-trades working on the teller line, proof area, loan reception and currently the operations department. Her favorite part of the job is solving problems for clients and staff -- and we can assure you that she is great at it!

There's bittersweet celebration at Marion County Bank today as we celebrate the retirement of Shirley Mathes. Shirley was instrumental in starting our mortgage department 17 years ago and has been a solid rock for her team.
We will miss her dearly, but wish her and Gary the best as they enjoy retirement!

A few years later a position opened up in our loan department and we knew who to call.
